Snow Man Snow Labo S2

Snow Man Snow Labo S2 album is out on sale on 21 September 2022. Coincidentally on the same day, it was announced on the Oricon chart that their previous album Snow Man S1 hit a million copies! I was keeping my fingers crossed it will pass the millionth mark back then in my post. So happy that it happened! Congratulations!

Half million mark

According to Billboard Japan, Snow Man Snow Labo S2 passed the half-million mark, selling a total of 664,685 copies between 19 and 20 September 2022. It’s amazing how this is achieved even before the official release date. Most fans who have pre-ordered the album, would have received their copies by 20 September, a common practice called “flying get” in Japan.

[Update] Billboard Japan has announced that Snow Labo S2 has sold a total of 895,513 copies between 19 and 25 September 2022! This makes it the 2nd consecutive album to make it at the top, following Snow Mania S1! At the same time, it also broke the record of Naniwa Danshi who achieved the top for selling a total of 722,777 copies in the first week of release in 2022.

Snow Man Snow Labo S2

As the album title suggested, it’s an album that Snow Man gets to experiment with different genres of music. Interestingly, each member also gets to be in charge of presenting the concept of their selected song to the other members. The lead song “JUICY” is a super fun music video to watch, with its catchy tune and unique choreography by none other than Snow Man’s leader, Hikaru Iwamoto. More details can be found here. I’m actually very surprised that they didn’t include Orange kiss in the album track list this time. Why???

Highlights from the CD

As mentioned, there are so many different genres compiled in this album. Personally, I’m excited to see how Snow Man will perform Toxic Girl. I don’t know why but it reminded me of Cry out. Speaking of which, I’m still waiting for a CD release of Cry out!

Highlights from the DVD/Blu-ray

All 3 editions have their own unique contents, especially with the DVD/Blu-ray, it was an overwhelming experience to go through the “Behind the Scenes” in Limited Edition A, as well as the music videos for the unit songs in Limited Edition B.

The unit songs were such a joy to watch because the style is so different. I’m biased towards HYPNOSIS because it has a very strong SixTONES taste – sexy rap style. You can watch the boys’ reactions to watching the music videos of the unit songs.

Shibuya Galore

As usual, Shibuya is decorated with Snow Man Snow Labo S2 promotion booths, panels, and posters at the usual music stores. I went down to take some shots but didn’t manage to catch a new spot they put up promotion panels at JR Harajuku station near Takeshita street entrance.

Snow Man LIVE TOUR 2022 Labo.

Starting from Osaka on 1 Oct 2022, Snow Man will be running a concert tour of 35 shows across 8 cities in Japan. It was crazy luck that I won the ballot for 1 show, so it will be my first time watching their concert if everything goes well without a hitch! Fingers crossed!

Concert goods

They finally released a penlight that has 9 colours. Yes you heard it right, 9 colours! We get Meme Black this time! LOL! It’s actually “black light” which looks blue-purplish like the UV light. I’m already having some trouble trying to differentiate between Meme Black and Shoppi Blue. The full range of goods can be found here.
